Tottenham Hotspur beat Manchester City 1-0 in the Champions League last night.

Tottenham Hotspur have taken a major advantage in their pursuit of the Champions League semi-finals after beating Manchester City 1-0 on Tuesday night.
Spurs went into the game having beaten Crystal Palace last week, and had the weekend off – whereas opponents Manchester City were playing an FA Cup semi-final at Wembley on Saturday night.
Tottenham had the fresher legs, but could have gone behind in the first half as Danny Rose handled Raheem Sterling’s shot inside the area, with a penalty awarded thanks to some help from VAR.
The ever-reliable Sergio Aguero stepped up from the spot, but saw Hugo Lloris save his spot kick – and that proved vital as City missed out on an away goal in a 1-0 defeat.
Tottenham’s winner came after Harry Kane had been substituted with an ankle injury, with Son Heung-min stepping up in his absence to smash home the only goal of the game.

Spurs now take a 1-0 lead to the Etihad Stadium, and will be hoping to see off Pep Guardiola’s side to reach the Champions League semi-finals in a quite incredible run.
Jamie Carragher was at the game, and not only raved about Tottenham’s remarkable new stadium, hosting just its second first-team match, but also Spurs’ performance, feeling that they deserved the win – now they just have to see out the second leg…
