Ronald Koeman has reportedly said he wants anybody but Liverpool to win the Premier League title, just days after admitting they’re contenders.

Jamie Carragher has taken to Twitter to react to Ronald Koeman’s comments about Liverpool, joking that chairman Bill Kenwright had a word in the Dutchman’s ear.
Koeman may have enjoyed a strong start to life at Goodison Park having claimed 18 points from his first 11 games, but recent comments about striker Romelu Lukaku had caused some friction with supporters.
Koeman told Belgian newspaper Het Laaste Nieuws earlier this month that he thinks striker Lukaku may have to leave Goodison Park in order to fulfil his potential – comments which infuriated some Everton fans.
Lukaku is Everton’s strike hero having hit 68 goals in just 138 games for the club, and the feeling was that Koeman shouldn’t have been advising the Belgian international to leave the club given his importance.

Koeman didn’t help himself earlier this week by telling the Daily Mail that he thinks city rivals Liverpool could win the Premier League title, before Twitter account Goodison HQ posted a quote from Koeman – talking at ‘An Audience with Ronald Koeman‘ – stating that he didn’t want Liverpool to win the title – in fact, anybody but the Reds.
The comments may have been what Everton wanted to hear after Koeman’s recent interviews, which many may simply see as brutal honesty from the straight-talking Dutchman, but Jamie Carragher saw the funny side.

The pundit, who made over 700 appearances for Liverpool, grew up supporting Everton, meaning he has a foot in both camps – and he reacted to Koeman’s comments by suggesting that Bill Kenwright must have told him to appease fans.
Chairman Kenwright won’t have been a huge fan of the comments about Lukaku, and Carragher joked that he will have been urging Koeman to put things right and get supporters back on side.
