Liverpool beat Leicester City 2-1 on Saturday afternoon.
Liverpool continued their winning run on Saturday afternoon, but their 2-1 victory over Leicester City came in somewhat controversial circumstances.
It was all going so well for Liverpool, as James Milner set up Sadio Mane to race clear and score the opener, slotting past Kasper Schmeichel to give the Reds the lead.
However, Liverpool failed to kill the game off, and it looked like they would be made to pay as James Maddison equaliser for the Foxes in the second half.
There was another late twist though, as Mane went down under a challenge from Marc Albrighton to win a penalty, which Milner stepped up to convert.
With Manchester City losing 2-0 at home to Wolves this afternoon, Liverpool now have a huge eight-point lead at the top of the Premier League table, which will delight Jurgen Klopp.
Yet much of the conversation has been surrounding that penalty decision, as some believe that Mane either dived or made the most of the contact in order to get a spot kick.
Leicester boss Brendan Rodgers wasn’t impressed, criticising Mane for going down too easily, but Jamie Carragher has reminded the former Liverpool manager about some comments he made in 2014.
After beating Stoke with a soft penalty, Rodgers – as quoted by 101 Great Goals – coined it a ‘Spanish penalty’, and Carragher couldn’t wait to remind him of that when criticising Mane’s tumble.
