The Reds had picked up just five points in their previous four games as they headed to Teesside on Wednesday, and were looking for a response having stumbled to a 2-2 draw against West Ham United on Sunday.

Jurgen Klopp’s men were back on top form against Middlesbrough though, as Adam Lallana headed home Nathaniel Clyne’s cross on 29 minutes to give Liverpool the lead at the Riverside Stadium.
Liverpool kicked on in the second half as Lallana found Divock Origi to make it 2-0, with the Belgian hitting his fifth goal in five games as his great form continues, before Origi teed up Lallana to slam home a third to seal the victory.

Klopp’s men remain six points behind league leaders Chelsea, but have leapfrogged Arsenal into second place in the Premier League table, and will be hoping to build on the win over Middlesbrough when they take on Everton in Monday’s Merseyside derby.
With two goals and an assist to his name against Middlesbrough, England international Lallana stole the show, adding to his strike in the 2-2 draw with West Ham.
Since returning from injury, Lallana has continued his superb campaign, and his performance against Middlesbrough earned praise from pundit and former Liverpool hero Jamie Carragher after the game.
Carragher took to Twitter to claim that there is no English player in the Premier League in better form than Lallana, and suggested that very few foreign player can come close to Lallana’s recent output.
