Liverpool ended their Premier League campaign and the Jurgen Klopp era with a 2-0 win over Wolverhampton Wanderers on Sunday.

This was always going to be an emotional day for the Reds as they waved goodbye to Klopp after nearly nine outstanding years at Anfield.

Liverpool have now confirmed the appointment of Arne Slot as Klopp’s replacement, landing the Dutchman from Feyenoord.

Liverpool players will be looking to impress when they begin work under Slot, but many will have international commitments over the summer.

Euro 2024 and Copa America are on the horizon and Liverpool will have a number of players heading away to play for their countries.

The likes of Alisson, Virgil van Dijk, Trent Alexander-Arnold, Andrew Robertson, Alexis Mac Allister, Darwin Nunez, Luis Diaz and Cody Gakpo will be on show over the summer.

Jamie Carragher on Liverpool’s Dominik Szoboszlai

Liverpool midfielder Dominik Szoboszlai will also be in action and should have a much bigger role for Hungary than he has recently had with the Reds.

The 23-year-old managed less than 150 minutes of first-team action in Liverpool’s final seven games of the Premier League season.

Szoboszlai heads into Euro 2024 as Hungary’s big hope but he will need to get up to speed quickly.

Liverpool legend Jamie Carragher has now delivered his predictions for Euro 2024 and has Hungary progressing out of their group.

Marco Rossi’s side take on Switzerland, Germany and Scotland in a potentially tricky group.

Carragher is backing Hungary to progress though, telling The Telegraph that he thinks Szoboszlai is ready for a ‘really good’ tournament after a ‘decent’ first season at Liverpool.

“They’ve done well of late, the Liverpool man Szoboszlai is their star man,” said Carragher. “He’s had a decent season, but I think he’ll have a really good tournament,” he added.

Szoboszlai looking for strong summer

Liverpool forked out £60million to sign Szoboszlai last summer, prising him away from RB Leipzig thanks to a release clause in his contract.

The Hungarian impressed in the first half of the season, recording two goals and two assists in his first 20 games.

A hamstring injury in January really seemed to set Szoboszlai back and he failed to register a single goal or assist in the final 12 games of the campaign.

Szoboszlai didn’t quite look himself and ended the season on the bench more often than not.

Liverpool will be looking for Szoboszlai to kick on next season and a strong Euro 2024 tournament may just allow him to really hit his stride for the Premier League next term.

Slot loves to play with a real number 10, placing an emphasis on players such as Sebastian Szymanski, Calvin Stengs and Guus Til during his time at Feyenoord.

Til hit 24 goals in 49 games from the number 10 position under Slot, Szymanski bagged 10 goals and seven assists in 40 games whilst Stengs racked up eight goals and 18 assists under Slot this past season.

Those numbers are huge and Slot’s system may allow for Szoboszlai to play his more familiar number 10 role – and hopefully become the latest attacking midfielder to shine under the Dutchman.
