Sky Sports pundit, Jamie Carragher, says that Liverpool will be very disappointed if they do not finish in the top four.
The former Liverpool defender has predicted for SkySports.com that Chelsea, Tottenham Hotspur, Liverpool, and Manchester City will make the top four cut in the Premier League.
Chelsea, the Premier League leaders, are firm favourites to lift the trophy in Antonio Conte’s first season at the club.
The Blues are likely to be challenged till the end by Tottenham who are trailing them by seven points. Mauricio Pochettino’s side will be looking to take advantage of any slip-ups from Chelsea.
Liverpool lead Manchester City by two points but the Reds have played a game more. Both Liverpool and City have been very inconsistent with their results in recent months, and need to tighten the grip if they are serious about playing in the Champions League next season.
Carragher predicts that Arsenal – fifth in the league and four points behind Man City – will miss out on the top four. He adds that Manchester United will also fail to make the top four cut, but expects the Red Devils to be in the Champions League next season by winning the Europa League.
This is what Carragher has predicted for Sky Sports:
“I think Arsenal will miss out. I also think Man United will still be in the Champions League next season if they win the Europa League.
“Liverpool have an advantage of no European football but I feel if Liverpool and Tottenham get into the top four they have had a great season because they don’t have the budget that other sides maybe more going for the title have.”
Carragher adds that Liverpool will be extremely disappointed if they do not finish in the top four from here on. It will be a big blow for them going forward.
