Liverpool legend Jamie Carragher has predicted one of Jurgen Klopp’s key summer signings will give the Reds exactly what they have been missing.
Liverpool manager Juergen Klopp
Liverpool showed plenty of promise under their new manager last season, making the final of both the League Cup and Europa League.
However, they were twice beaten finalists and struggled for any consistency in the Premier League, eventually finishing eighth.
Klopp has been busy reshaping his squad this summer and is under pressure to challenge for the Champions League places at the very least, particularly given that the Reds have no European distractions this time out.

And Anfield legend Carragher, now a pundit for Sky Sports, believes Klopp’s big summer signing Sadio Mane is the man to help push the team on a level.
“Sadio Mane is a very good signing,” Carragher told Sky Sports.
“He can play in any of the four positions in attack and it looks like he will play on the right for Liverpool.
“They lacked pace and goals from those attacking midfield positions last year but his record suggests he will fix that.”
Liverpool’s Sadio Mane shoots
Carragher makes a salient point but Mane is under pressure given that his £30 million price tag is half of Klopp’s total outlay in the summer window.
The former Southampton attacker has been joined at Anfield by Marko Grujic, Joel Matip, Loris Karius, Ragnar Klavan, Alex Manninger and Georginio Wijnaldum.
Mane celebrates
Liverpool are being tipped to mount a title challenge under the charismatic German boss but the English top flight promises to be the most fiercely contested in living memory with some of the planet’s top managers now residing here.
Antonio Conte takes charge of a big spending Chelsea determined to recover from their disastrous title defence last season, Pep Guardiola has taken the held at moneybags Manchester City, Jose Mourinho is spending big at Manchester United and the likes of Tottenham Hotspur, Arsenal, West Ham United and Everton continue to build.
