Everton were beaten at Anfield yesterday, but Marco Silva’s side still managed to impress.

Everton failed to score at Anfield, but it was not for the want of trying.
The Toffees missed some highly presentable opportunities, with Yerry Mina, Andre Gomes and Theo Walcott all particularly guilty of spurning good openings.
But Carragher felt that there was reason for Everton fans to be encouraged, even if their side fell to yet another defeat at Anfield.
“I can’t remember in the last 20 years and Everton team causing Liverpool so many problems going forward and creating chances,” Carragher said.
“Everton going forward have been fantastic.”

Everton ultimately fell to a 1-0 defeat against Liverpool in bizarre circumstances, as they were undone late on.
Virgil van Dijk totally mishit a volley which looped up in the air, but Jordan Pickford failed to deal with it, and allowed Divock Origi to head home from close range.

Everton are next in action in midweek, when they take on Newcastle United at Goodison Park.
