Darwin Nunez scored a vital goal for Liverpool tonight with Jamie Carragher paying tribute to Jurgen Klopp’s ‘captain chaos’.

Jamie Carragher has paid tribute to Darwin Nunez after his stunning goal for Liverpool against Bournemouth.

Jurgen Klopp’s Reds headed to the South Coast with a spot in the next round of the Carabao Cup up for grabs.

Cody Gakpo fired Liverpool in front before fellow Dutchman Justin Kluivert hauled Bournemouth level.

Liverpool found a winner though, as Nunez curled home a stunning strike, sending Liverpool into the quarter-finals.

We know that Nunez is capable of the sublime and the ridiculous – sometimes within mere seconds of each other.

Just look at last week’s Europa League tie with Toulouse; Nunez did all the hard work, had an open goal at his mercy… and then hit the post.

That means Nunez has become known as something of a ‘chaotic’ player, with his inconsistency often on show within minutes rather than full games.

This was a simply exquisite goal from Nunez though and Jamie Carragher played into the Nunez jokes by tweeting just two words about Nunez – ‘captain chaos’.

That nickname has been going around for a while now and Liverpool fans probably wouldn’t have it any other way.

Nunez shut Bournemouth fans up very quickly

That inconsistency we mentioned was on show with this goal.

The ball was switched out to Nunez, who took an awful first touch and saw the ball run away from him.

Bournemouth fans mocked Nunez after that touch, but they were quickly silenced when the Uruguayan carried the ball forward and whipped it home.

That a player can produce that touch and then score a wonder goal is incredible, but that’s just the kind in player Nunez is right now.

It often looks like Nunez doesn’t know what he’s going to do next, so good luck to any defenders trying to guess.
