Liverpool legend Jamie Carragher has told SkySports that he is hopeful that one of Leeds United or Sheffield Wednesday win promotion.
Speaking to SkySports’ Monday Night Football and reflecting on Brighton’s promotion to the Premier League, Carragher and Gary Neville both expressed concerns about a power shift down south.
The lack of Yorkshire sides in the top flight was among their laments, with Carragher commenting that he is keen for one of the sleeping giants to awaken.
He said: “I think it’d be nice if, no disrespect to the teams in the play-offs, if a Sheffield Wednesday or a Leeds come back.
“One of those big historical clubs who when we were kids were always in the first division.”

Both Leeds and Sheffield Wednesday have spent more than a decade outside the top flight but now have a chance of getting back.
The Owls are in the play-off places while Leeds have just slipped outside, into seventh place.
Fulham have overtaken them while Reading and Huddersfield Town complete the play-off places.
