Jamie Carragher spotted Alexandre Lacazette trying to breathe energy back into the Arsenal side as soon as he came on last night against Crystal Palace, as per his comments on Sky Sports’ Monday Night Football.

Making an impact

Lacazette ultimately scored the equaliser for Arsenal in their 2-2 draw with Palace.

The French striker made an impact off the bench and it was evident that he was highly motivated for the match as soon as he entered the pitch.

Lacazette won a corner early on and he quickly was seen gesturing to the Arsenal supporters to try and lift an increasingly frustrated Emirates Stadium crowd.

And Carragher said: “It is important, as it keeps the unbeaten run going. It’s not still not a great result for Arsenal.

“But I think sometimes when you score a last minute goal, I won’t feel like three points, but it’s more than just a point because of the way you get the result.

“Even though they didn’t play well Arsenal, there was an energy about them in the first 20 minutes.

“And then when Lacazette came on, there was actually something as soon as he came on. He won a corner and was lifting the crowd up. Trying to get it going.

“And you see the reaction when the equalising goal went in. Sometimes even though it’s not a great result, it’s only a point, sometimes the feeling going into the dressing room and the training room, and the reactions of the players to the goal going in, you feel like there is something there.”

In from the start?

Lacazette’s performance off the bench may just have forced him into contention to start.

With Bukayo Saka injured and Nicolas Pepe failing to impress, Mikel Arteta could be forced into changes for Arsenal’s next match against Aston Villa on Friday night.

If Arteta does reshuffle his pack slightly then Lacazette surely stands a good chance of featuring, in what could be an increasingly rare start for the striker.
