Jamie Carragher told Monday Night Football on Sky Sports (07/12/20 at 7:40 pm) that the likes of Willian, David Luiz and Cedric Soares have been ‘joke’ signings for Arsenal.
All three players have been low-cost captures, with both Willian and Cedric joining as free-transfers and Luiz making that surprise switch from Chelsea to Arsenal in 2019.
But only two of those players – Willian and Luiz – have been regulars for Arsenal this season, as they sit in the bottom half of the Premier League table.
Carragher didn’t hold back in his assessment of Arsenal’s signings and also shared that Thomas Partey and Gabriel have been their best players during this dismal campaign so far.
“There is a lot of nonsense around the club,” said Carragher. “Bringing players or buying players. I think some of the signings are a joke.
“In terms of bringing Willian in, Luiz in and Cedric in – Mikel Arteta brought in Partey and Gabriel, they look like two of Arsenal’s best players, at this moment.
“They have had four managers and three CEO’s since 2018. Just stick with Arteta. But there is going to be a lot of pain for Arsenal.”

Arsenal went into the North London derby with questions being asked of the manager, the players and where the club was headed.
Well, that took its biggest blow this season when they suffered a defeat to Spurs, and to top it all off, Jose Mourinho’s side moved to the top of the Premier League table.
At this moment in time, there is no light at the end of the tunnel for those at the Emirates, but more players need to carry the torch alongside the likes of Gabriel and Partey.
