Speaking on The Overlap, Jamie Carragher has named the Liverpool legend he’d want to insert into Jurgen Klopp’s side right now.
Liverpool have been blessed with so many talented players throughout their history, but the one player Carragher would want to bring back would be Ian Rush.
What’s been said?
Carragher was asked which legend he’d love to see in the current team, to which he replied:
“Ian Rush at centre-forward, that’s what I said Liverpool need. Luis Suarez is still playing, is he a former player? He’s a real goalscorer, that’s where I think Liverpool might falter this season, I know the defenders are coming back, but I even felt last season that the problem was scoring goals and there’s too much pressure on Salah and Mane. I’d like someone to come in and take the burden off of Salah, so I’ll say Ian Rush.”

Tough choice
This is such a hard question to answer, but perhaps Carragher has made the right decision in picking Rush.
The Welshman is the greatest goalscorer the Reds have ever had, and while he could have picked a number of amazing strikers such as Robbie Fowler, Fernando Torres or Michael Owen, nobody can rival Rush in terms of numbers.
Unfortunately, Carragher doesn’t possess a time machine, so he can’t bring Rush back into this side, but if he could go back in time, there are few players better than Rush he could select.
