Jamie Carragher believes that Tottenham Hotspur attacking midfielder Dele Alli has all the qualities to become Premier League’s Player of the Year in the future.

Alli won the PFA Young player of the year award this season, and Carragher picked him as his young player of the season as well.

The former Liverpool defender says he has “no doubt” that Alli will win the player of the year award in the future.

He cited the example of Steven Gerrard, who also won PFA Young Player of the Year at that age and then went on to win Player of the Year, to elaborate on what Alli can achieve.

Carragher adds that Alli is getting into that stage already where he would become the best player in the league.

“Easy for me that. One day we’ll be talking about him winning Player of the Year, no doubt. I think Steven Gerrard won Young Player of the Year at that age as well and then went on to win Player of the Year, and I see little difference with Alli when I see him play,” Carragher said to Sky Sports.

“He’s getting to that stage now already where he wouldn’t be that far away from being Player of the Year, I think that’s always a great sign for a young player.”

Alli has enjoyed a fantastic 2016/17 for Spurs, where he scored 17 Premier League goals and further provided five assists.

He has been one of the key players for the north Londoners this season, as Mauricio Pochettino’s side finished second in the Premier League. The 21-year-old indeed has all the qualities to become a top class player for both his club and country.
