Tottenham's Dele Alli

Liverpool legend Jamie Carragher has told Sky Sports that Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Dele Alli will win the Premier League Player of the Season award one day.

The former Liverpool defender has backed the 21-year-old England international to win the Young Player of the Season award this term.

“Easy for me that,” Carragher told Sky Sports while picking Alli as the Young Player of the Season in the Premier League. “One day we’ll be talking about him winning Player of the Year, no doubt.

“I think Steven Gerrard won Young Player of the Year at that age as well and then went on to win Player of the Year, and I see little difference with Alli when I see him play.

“He’s getting to that stage now already where he wouldn’t be that far away from being Player of the Year, I think that’s always a great sign for a young player.”

Alli is one of the best young players in entire Europe and has been superb for Tottenham so far this season.

The 21-year-old England international midfielder has scored 16 goals and created 42 chances in 30 league games for Spurs so far this campaign.

The youngster’s performances have been crucial in Tottenham maintaining their challenge for the Premier League title this season.

The former Milton Keynes Dons youngster’s progress under Spurs manager Mauricio Pochettino has been superb, and the White Hart Lane faithful will hope that he takes his game to an even higher level in the coming years.

Tottenham are second in the Premier League table at the moment with 68 points from 31 matches, seven points behind leaders and London rivals Chelsea.
