Liverpool have secured the signing of Porto winger Luis Diaz – and Reds legend Jamie Carragher loves his choice of shirt number at Anfield.
This time last week, it looked like Diaz had a chance to head to the Premier League but with Tottenham Hotspur rather than Liverpool.
Tottenham had a bid rejected last week but maintained confidence that Diaz would be heading to North London.
Come Friday though, Tottenham were left stunned as Liverpool moved in to hijack their deal ahead of Monday’s transfer deadline.
The deal has moved quickly, with Liverpool confirming Diaz as a new Reds star earlier on Sunday.
Diaz is currently away on international duty with Colombia, so his deal has been finalised in South America.
Liverpool are paying £37million to sign Diaz, though that fee could rise all the way up to £49million with add-ons included.
With Sadio Mane blowing hot and cold this season – as well as being out of contract in 2023 – Diaz represents a vital signing for Liverpool.
The Colombian star racked up 16 goals for Porto this season and make an impact for Jurgen Klopp both now and in the future.

Liverpool has now confirmed that Diaz is taking the number 23 shirt at Anfield, having worn number seven at Porto.
Seven isn’t available at Liverpool, with James Milner currently holding that shirt.
Taking number 23 means Diaz follows on from Xherdan Shaqiri and Emre Can in recent years, as well as Jamie Carragher.
Carragher wore Liverpool’s number 23 shirt throughout his Liverpool career, taking it in 1996 and making it his until his retirement in 2013.
Diaz now takes over, and Carragher has taken to Twitter to claim that the winger ‘must be good’ if Diaz is taking on his old shirt number, jokingly bigging himself up.
