The Liverpool legend, perhaps surprisingly, has been full of praise for Manchester United’s talisman.
Manchester United’s Zlatan Ibrahimovic
Jamie Carragher has told Sky Sports that Manchester United’s acquisition of Zlatan Ibrahimovic has to be considered the signing of the season in the Premier League.
Ibrahimovic finally arrived in England last summer after a career that has seen him play in most of Europe’s best leagues.
But despite enjoying a sensational spell at every club he has played for, including at his most recent club Paris Saint-Germain – for whom, he scored 113 league goals in just 122 games – some doubted that Ibra would be capable of shining in England.
However, he has proved any doubters wrong with a stunning season for him personally, scoring 17 in 27 Premier League games and twice in the EFL Cup final win over Southampton.
And that has prompted Liverpool legend Carragher to suggest that the former Sweden international’s arrival has to be considered the best piece of business done by a Premier League club, despite Sadio Mane’s tremendous first year at Anfield.

“For signing of the season I think I’m going to go with Jose Mourinho in bringing in Zlatan Ibrahimovic,” he told Sky Sports.
“I think he’s always had questions about him in the Premier League, even years ago because he’s never quite done it against English teams, but he’s now done it in the Premier League this season at 35.
“I think [he’s] kept United in contention for top four, already won a trophy, may win another trophy in the Europa League, and I think he’s been by far the best player Manchester United have got.”

What should be extremely exciting for Manchester United fans if he sticks around is that he is showing absolutely no signs of being less influential than when he was at an age when most strikers are considered to be in their prime.
And therefore, if he does stay at Old Trafford, it would certainly not be a surprise if he continues to find the back of the net on a regular basis and remains the Red Devils’ talisman.
