The defender was heavily linked with a move away from Sunderland in the summer.
Writing in the Daily Mail, Jamie Carragher has said that David Moyes’ worst decision at Sunderland has been keeping Lamine Kone.
The defender arrived at the Stadium of Light in the January transfer window last season, and ended up playing a key role as Sam Allardyce’s side managed to avoid relegation.
Kone’s performances did not go unnoticed, with the Mirror reporting during the summer that Everton were particularly keen on his signature.
The defender ended up staying in the North East and signing a new contract, but since then has put in a series of disappointing performances as his team have failed to pick up a win in their first ten league games.
Sunderland manager David Moyes talks with Lamine Kone
Carragher has already criticised Kone for his performances, and has now turned his attention to Moyes’ decision to keep him.
“The other big issue from the window was the fact he (Moyes) managed to hang on to Lamine Kone, who had been targeted by Everton,” he told the Daily Mail.
“He might have felt that was his best decision, but it has proven to be his worst. Kone has been a disgrace, his body language and performances have been dreadful and he has made it clear he wants to move in January.”

Despite his poor performances this season, the Mirror reports there are still clubs chasing his signature, with West Ham thought to be at the front of the queue.
