Jamie Carragher has said John Stones was the Man of the Match as Man City defeated Chelsea 1-0 at Stamford Bridge.
It’s safe to say that Carragher is spot on, as Stones was typically imperious against Graham Potter’s side on Thursday night.
In the 1st half, the Man City defender perhaps made one of the tackles of the season by stopping Chelsea winger Christian Pulisic in his tracks.
Throughout the game, it’s hard to point out which box John Stones failed to tick throughout the contest in his Man of the Match display.
From a pure defensive perspective, the £200,000-a-week mainstay was an absolute beast in the air and timed each and every one of his challenges to perfection.
On the ball, John Stones was a treat to watch as well.
Some of the Man City ace’s cross-field balls and passes in tight areas would have put most midfielders in world football to shame.
All in all, Carragher is right in hailing Stones.
Jamie Carragher dubs John Stones as Man of the Match as Man City beat Chelsea

Jamie Carragher has said John Stones for his Man of the Match as Man City beat Chelsea 1-0 in what was a truly outstanding performance from the experienced centre-half.
“[John Stones] was my Man of the Match. His performance in the 1st half kept them [Man City] in the game”, Carragher said on Sky Sports.
In our view: Stones is underrated
Despite playing at the highest level and performing at a consistent level, John Stones often goes under-the-radar because he quietly goes about his business in faultless fashion.
Against Chelsea, Stones was remarkable for Man City once again, which is usually the case.
However, the classy defender often gets overlooked by many due to his understated demeanour on and off the pitch.
Perhaps the verdict handed by Jamie Carragher to dub Man City star John Stones as his Man of the Match against Chelsea will influence many to realise that he truly is quite clearly the real deal.
