Jamie Carragher has posted on Instagram ‘another trip to the smoke for Liverpool’ after they secured another Wembley trip on Sunday.
Liverpool recorded a narrow, yet dogged, 1-0 win over Nottingham Forest in the quarter-finals of the FA Cup to book their semi-final showdown with none other than Manchester City.
After the game, Carragher posted the following message when the Reds saw off promotion-chasing Forest at the City Ground in the FA Cup.
Jurgen Klopp and his players have already tasted success at Wembley this season when they beat Chelsea in the League Cup final.
Over the years, Manchester City have proven to be masters of Wembley, with a high volume of League Cup wins, mixed in with FA Cup triumphs.
But, next month’s meeting, on the backdrop of their Premier League clash, is going to take their rivalry to the next level.
What’s more important? You decide, but if one team is victorious in both then it would be a serious statement of intent.
Either way, both Liverpool and Manchester City have the chance to add multiple trophies to their cabinets, and so far, those on Merseyside have already ticked off one box.
It really is a case of a flip of a coin. From Pep Guardiola to Jurgen Klopp out on the touchline, to Bernardo Silva or Luis Diaz out on the pitch.
This is where the star performers come to town, this is where the best players in the world stand up, and whatever happens, the cream will rise to the top by the time the final ball is kicked at the end of the campaign.
