The England international was at fault for Liverpool’s second goal at the weekend.

Tottenham Hotspur suffered a defeat in the Premier League at the weekend, one which dealt a huge blow to their title chase.
They lost 2-0 at Anfield to Liverpool in what was a damp display from the travelling side.
Spurs were never at the races and made mistakes throughout in a poor display.
The second goal was not one Eric Dier likes to look back on. The England international tried to take the ball down inside his own half from a James Milner clearance. But he was pick-pocketed by Sadio Mane for Liverpool, who went on to score.
It was a decision that left Jamie Carragher flabbergasted. Speaking on Monday Night Football (13/02/2017) on Sky Sports he stated:
“Straight away, look at Eric Dier’s head.
“He’s thinking ‘I’m going to bring this down’ he’s checking where Mane is.
“I put myself in that position. If I’m playing away at Old Trafford, Stamford Bridge, White Hart Lane, 1-0 down early on. I am not thinking about bringing that down. I’m thinking of heading that away.
“Think who you’re playing, Liverpool…they press.
“Brings it down, invites trouble, it’s a poor mistake.”

Dier has become more of a midfield player in recent months and at times, when playing at centre-back, he does take the odd risk too many.
On this occasion there is no doubt he did just that.
Mane covered plenty of ground to cover Dier but the Spurs star might have been better off just clearing his lines on this occasion.
But, as with many of the Tottenham players, he is young and will hopefully learn in time when to play, and when to clear.
