Speaking on Sky Sports’ Monday Night Football, Jamie Carragher has been speaking about Cristiano Ronaldo ahead of Liverpool’s game against Manchester United this weekend.
It wouldn’t be a big game on Sky Sports if we didn’t see Carragher and Gary Neville argue about a combined XI the week before the match, and on Monday we saw exactly that.
Unusually, the pair agreed on a number of spots in the team, but they were unable to agree on who should start up front, with Carragher picking Mason Greenwood and Neville choosing Ronaldo.
Carragher claims that Ronaldo wouldn’t get into this Liverpool team because he’s not a Jurgen Klopp player.
What’s been said?
“Do you think Ronaldo would get into this Liverpool team,” Carragher was asked by the host.
“No, I’m talking about Jurgen Klopp. I don’t think Jurgen Klopp would pick Ronaldo if he was doing what we’re doing now. That’s the headline isn’t it? He’s going to score the winner isn’t he?” Carragher responded.

Might be right
Cristiano Ronaldo is undoubtedly one of the all-time footballing greats, but let’s be honest, he isn’t a Klopp player.
Jurgen Klopp needs his strikers to press all of the time and work for the team and Ronaldo just simply isn’t that player anymore.
You can’t really blame him. After all, he is 36, but if he’s going to try to be a poacher, then Liverpool wouldn’t be the team for him.
However, as Carragher says, he’s still a dangerous player in his own right and he could very well be a difference maker this weekend.
