Jamie Carragher says that Hugo Lloris belongs to the top-class bracket of goalkeepers.

Former Liverpool defender and now football pundit, Jamie Carragher believes that Tottenham Hotspur’s Hugo Lloris is a top class goalkeeper.
While writing for The Daily Mail, Carragher notes that the Premier League clubs often balk at spending big on goalkeepers. David de Gea is Premier League’s record signing for a goalkeeper at £21 million; the value doesn’t hold weight compared to players in other positions.
France’s Hugo Lloris reacts
The Reds legend notes that the Premier League has some of the finest goalkeepers in Europe, with Petr Cech and Hugo Lloris being top class along with De Gea and Thibaut Courtois.
“United were not afraid to spend big on De Gea, Chelsea did not flinch in spending £8million on Thibaut Courtois when he was only 19. Those two, along with Buffon, are among the best in the world,” wrote Carragher.
“The Premier League has the finest goalkeepers in Europe, with Petr Cech and Hugo Lloris also in the top-class bracket, but I worry that will change soon if Real Madrid come calling for De Gea or Courtois.”
Carragher says that it is equally important to buy a top-class goalkeeper for a team wanting to be successful. Citing Liverpool’s example, he said the Reds have spent almost £40 million on goalkeepers since 2001 in their quest to find the right one.
Lloris, 30, is undoubtedly one of the best goalkeepers in the Premier League. He has been with Spurs since 2012, and has performed consistently throughout this time.
The French goalkeeper is probably the best shot stopper in the league, but distribution from the back is probably his biggest weakness.
This season, he has been impressive for Spurs and has kept 15 clean sheets in 31 appearances.
