Celtic announced Brendan Rodgers as their next manager last week.
Jamie Carragher has told the Daily Mail that Brendan Rodgers’ appointment at Celtic will be a success.
Rodgers was announced as Celtic’s next manager last week, and there is great excitement about his arrival from Bhoys supporters.
Carragher knows Rodgers well, having worked with the Northern Irish manager at Liverpool during his playing days.
And the former Reds defender, who now works as a pundit for Sky Sports, said: “Eyebrows will have been raised in some quarters about his decision to re-launch his managerial career in Scotland but, from Celtic’s point of view, this is a major coup.
“Their last two appointments were Ronny Deila, who arrived unheralded from Norwegian side Stromsgodset, and Neil Lennon, who was taking his first job in management, so to recruit someone who two years ago took Liverpool to within two points of the title shows how well Celtic have done.
“It’s an unbelievable stadium when it is bouncing and I know from experience Celtic have got a very good manager to get them what they want.”
Rodgers’ first task at Celtic will be to guide them into the Champions League, as the Glasgow side have been starved of European success during Ronny Deila’s time in charge.
Deila failed to guide Celtic into the Champions League group stages during either of his seasons in charge at Parkhead.
Deila did have more success domestically at Celtic, though, and it will be up to Rodgers to continue to help the Bhoys dominate Scottish football.
Celtic have won the last five Scottish Premiership titles, and they will be looking to make it six in a row next season.
