Manchester City produced perhaps their best display under the guidance of Pep Guardiola this evening to claim a 3-1 win over his former side Manchester City.

Ilkay Gundogan cancelled out Lionel Messi’s opener just before half-time before Kevin De Bruyne scored a fantastic free-kick to give City the lead. Gundogan then put the icing on the cake with his second of the night.

City turned around the game in the second-half after what was a struggle to get into the game during the first-half.

But Guardiola proved his worth with some astute tactical changes, that had Sky pundit and Liverpool legend Jamie Carragher praising the City boss on Twitter.

He had this to say about the changes that Guardiola made and the impact they had in the second half:

He was not the only one impressed by City’s tactics. Match of the Day presenter Gary Lineker had this to say:

There is no doubt that Guardiola played a blinder tactically against his former team and was deserving of picking up the three points from the game.

The rest of the Premier League will have looked on ominously.
