Jamie Carragher responded in a pretty brutal fashion on Twitter to Gary Neville’s jibe at Liverpool prior to yesterday’s Premier League action on Monday Night Football.

Usually, both Carragher and Neville would provide the perfect double act for MNF, but the latter wasn’t in the Sky studios for his usual role and instead special guest Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink took his place.

Carragher asked his Twitter followers what topics they should discuss before Leeds United’s clash against Wolves and Neville suggested a few ideas.

One of the ideas he put forward was ‘Liverpool one time PL winners’, as Carragher then issued this response:

That message is a reference to Paul Scholes being put in temporary charge of Salford, which is co-owned by the Class of 92, following the sacking of Graham Alexander, who was unbeaten in his first five games and helped the club to the Football League in his first season in charge [BBC Sport].

Nonetheless, underneath Neville’s message, there were a few Liverpool supporters who reminded the former Manchester United man that they have 19 league titles.

Liverpool’s trophies under Jurgen Klopp

  1. Champions League

    2018/19

  2. UEFA Super Cup

    2019

  3. FIFA Club World Cup

    2019

  4. Premier League

    2019/20

Whilst others suggested that it will take a long while before his old club lifts England’s top crown once again.

Either way, if anyone’s winning bragging rights, at this moment in time, then it’s the red side of Merseyside given how successful they have been during these past few years.
