Everton youngster Jonjoe Kenny has put in some highly impressive performances over recent weeks.
Kenny was barely utilised during Ronald Koeman’s time in charge, but Sam Allardyce has been quick to throw the youngster into the first-team.
Kenny has shone in recent weeks, and his display against Swansea City last night was excellent.
Kenny helped Everton in both an attacking and defensive sense, as the Toffees continued their fine form, by beating Paul Clement’s struggling side 3-1.
And Carragher said: “This lad has come into the team. I was screaming for him to get a chance under Koeman.
“He was excellent at the other end of the field today [in attack]. It’s all what he deserved. He’s come into the side and has got his chance. He’s associated with being a touch tackling defender, but he’s helped them get a goal.”
Kenny’s place in Everton’s team looks secure for now, but with Seamus Coleman nearing a return, he could be dropped back to a reserve role in the near future.
Coleman is regarded as one of the best right-backs in the Premier League, and is expected to come into Allardyce’s starting line-up when fit.
Everton’s victory over Swansea has lifted them up to 10th place in the table, with the Toffees starting to close the gap on those ahead of them.
