Liverpool’s Trent Alexander-Arnold starred for England during their UEFA Nations League encounter.

Jamie Carragher has lauded the performance of Liverpool defender Trent Alexander-Arnold as he stood out for England during the UEFA Nations League win over Switzerland on Sunday afternoon.
The Sky Sports pundit compared Alexander-Arnold to David Beckham and claimed that even the former Manchester United man, at the age of 20, wouldn’t have been able to put the quality of crosses the Liverpool ace is currently putting in.
Gareth Southgate made a number of changes from the team that were beaten in the semi-final by Holand on Thursday, with TAA coming in for Kyle Walker at right-back.
Speaking to Sky Sports Football during the intervals (09/06/2019), Carragher was full of praise for Alexander-Arnold, who was arguably England’s best player on the day.
“The standout one [for England[ was Trent [Alexander-Arnold] coming [into the starting XI],” Carragher told Sky Sports. “Maybe he’s in pole position [to keep his place]. You’d expect when the internationals come back around [that he’d be starting[ at next season. So, he’s the big winner.
“Let’s not forget that crossing ability he [Southgate] had that in Trippier. It’s just that Trippier’s defensive performances this season have not been up to scratch. That’s what Trent has to make sure that it doesn’t affect him defensively. I think that has happened with Trippier and it’s going to be very difficult for him to get back into the squad.
“I called him Beckham-esque at half-time, I don’t think Beckham could put crosses in like that at 20-years-old. That’s what he’s been. Outstanding.”

Alexander-Arnold has been rising and rising during these past few seasons, with Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp playing a big part in his success.
He came through the ranks at Anfield and Klopp brought him through last season as his team missed out on Champions League glory.
But during this campaign, he played an even bigger part as to why Liverpool won the Champions League title and recorded 97 points during the recently concluded Premier League campaign.
