West Ham United midfielder Declan Rice was arguably man of the match for Manuel Pellegrini’s side last night.

Jamie Carragher has told Monday Night Football, which was broadcast on Sky Sports on 17th September, that he feels West Ham United midfielder Declan Rice is actually underrated.

Rice’s reputation has soared since he broke through at West Ham last season, and he has quickly become an established member of England’s squad.

The 20-year-old was questioned by some rival fans over the international break, but West Ham supporters have always raved about just how talented Rice is.

And Carragher feels that the youngster does not get enough credit for his passing range.

Rice’s distribution was excellent for West Ham in their 0-0 draw against Aston Villa last night, even when his side were reduced to 10 men.

And Carragher said: “We looked at [Arsenal’s, Matteo] Guendouzi getting pressed and he struggled, but Rice did really well with one in the first half. I actually think that Rice’s passing is better than what he is given credit for.”

Rice’s performance for West Ham last night was certainly impressive, as he put in one of the stand out displays during the contest.

It was a night where defences really came out on top, with both West Ham and Villa failing to create many meaningful chances throughout the game.

The Hammers’ draw has left them sat in eighth place in the Premier League table.
