Liverpool legend Jamie Carragher has told Sky Sports that it is going to difficult for Tottenham Hotspur to challenge for the Premier League title this season.

Tottenham are fourth in the Premier League table at the moment with 15 points from seven matches.

Mauricio Pochettino’s side are just four points behind leaders Manchester City, but former Liverpool defender Carragher has said that it will be tough for Spurs to challenge for the league title.

Carragher, though, has suggested that Chelsea will challenge for the Premier League title this campaign.

“I wouldn’t write off Chelsea,” Carragher told Sky Sports. “They have a great habit of winning trophies, certainly early in a new manager’s reign. Spurs as well, after a bit of a wobble, are only four points off the top.

“But I think it will be difficult for Spurs to challenge for the title with their squad depth and how many players went to the World Cup but I wouldn’t write off Chelsea with Eden Hazard in the form he’s in.”

Title challenge

Manchester City, Liverpool and Chelsea are the three strongest teams in the Premier League this season, but Tottenham do have a good squad.

While it is going to be hard for Spurs to compete for the league title, the North London outfit cannot be written off just yet, given what they have achieved and how they have progressed over the past four years.

Spurs will take on Cardiff City at the Wembley Stadium in the Premier League on Saturday afternoon.
