Everton striker Richarlison led the line as Marco Silva’s side picked up a 0-0 draw against Chelsea.
Everton and Chelsea played out a 0-0 draw yesterday, with Richarlison handed a tough role up-front.
The Brazilian forward was tasked with starting as a lone striker against David Luiz and Antonio Rudiger in the Chelsea defence.
But Richarlison battled away throughout the contest, until he had to be taken off with injury.
And Carragher said: “I really like what I’ve seen today from that lad. Yes, we’ll see better things going forward, but in terms of hold up play – he’s made it difficult for two big centre-backs and hasn’t stopped running.”
Richarlison has been in good scoring form for Everton this season, but he showed a different side of his game against Chelsea.
The powerful striker refused to give up, as he continuously kept battling away against Rudiger for large parts of the match.
Everton were very impressive against Chelsea, as they picked up a credible point.
The Toffees managed to match Maurizio Sarri’s side throughout, as they gave them one of their toughest tests of the season to date.
Everton are now in ninth place in the Premier League table, after an encouraging start to life under Marco Silva.
