The Liverpool attacker is heavily linked with Barcelona.

Jamie Carragher has told 5times.co.uk that he believes Philippe Coutinho will be at Liverpool next season, but claims it’s only a matter of time before he leaves.

According to The Express, Liverpool have rejected an £89 million bid from Barcelona for the Brazilian attacker this week.

The Catalans are already said to have had a £70 million offer knocked back by the Reds and it appears as if the Primera Division giants are hell bent on signing him.

Coutinho is a vital player for Liverpool and their Premier League title challenge will hinge on whether the playmaker stays at Anfield.

And although the legendary Carragher believes he will be on Merseyside for the 2017-18 campaign, the former centre-back says a departure is inevitable.

He told 5times.co.uk: “There is no doubt that at one stage in his career Philippe will want to play for one of the Spanish giants as many of the South American players do.

“Barcelona and Real Madrid are seen as the two biggest teams in world football who always have the best players.

“I think that Liverpool fans should really enjoy him over the next 12 months as if a big money offer does come in at the end of next season and if the player wants to play for Barcelona then there is not really much LFC can do.

“Let’s just hope we see him in a Liverpool shirt next season, which I think we will, and then let’s see where things go from there.”
