Jamie Carragher told Sky Sports during their live coverage of Liverpool’s draw against Manchester United on Sunday that Sadio Mane, Roberto Firmino and Mo Salah ‘really’ let them down.

It was a pretty drab goalless draw at Anfield, with both teams having very few clear-cut chances and Liverpool, in the end, remaining three points behind the leaders.

Ever since Liverpool put seven goals past Crystal Palace in a ruthless fashion in December, they have netted only once in the Premier League.

Whilst Liverpool’s forward line was disappointing Carragher, he did praise the two stand-in centre-back’s – Jordan Henderson and Fabinho – who did ‘really well’ against Manchester United’s attack.

“It has been a big problem [the forward areas],” said Carragher. “There is a lot of talk about who is going to play centre-back.

“That man on the ball Jordan Henderson and Fabinho have done really well considering who they are up against. Some top attacking talents.

“But it’s the front three and the attacking talent that has really let Liverpool down.”

Liverpool’s trophies under Jurgen Klopp

  1. Champions League

    2018/19

  2. UEFA Super Cup

    2019

  3. FIFA Club World Cup

    2019

  4. Premier League

    2019/20

There has been a lot of talk about Liverpool adding depth at the back and Jurgen Klopp missing the qualities of Virgil van Dijk and Joe Gomez.

But Liverpool have also missed the previously flying and still injured Diogo Jota because he was upsetting the apple cart and adding something different to Klopp’s forward line.

This is an unusual situation Liverpool fans find themselves in because they are used to their world-class front three putting many teams to bed.
