Liverpool are currently sitting top of the Premier League table, but they are closely being followed by Manchester City.
Jamie Carragher has claimed that the likes of Everton, Sky Sports and Gary Neville are ‘desperate’ to stop Liverpool from winning the Premier League title.
During Monday Night Football, after Arsenal beat Watford, Neville suggested that Manchester United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer should rest some players when United host neighbours City next Wednesday.
Before that, they take on Barcelona on Tuesday night for the second leg of their Champions League tie before they take on Everton at Goodison Park this Sunday – Neville believes given the clutter of fixtures, United should use the City match to rest players.
Speaking to Monday Night Football on Sky Sports Premier League, Neville’s comments didn’t sit well with Carragher, who saw the funny side to what he was saying.
“Everton rested their two best players against City,” Carragher told Monday Night Football. “He’s [Gary Neville] now sending a little message out there to Ole [Solskjaer], he knows Ole’s watching.
“Everyone’s just desperate to stop Liverpool from winning the league. Manchester United, Everton, Sky Sports. They’re all it, don’t worry. It’ll sort is self out.”
At this moment in time, the Reds hold a two-point lead over Pep Guardiola’s City, but the Manchester club do have a game in hand on their rivals.
The next few weeks could determine who wins the title because City have a number of big games coming up, including their home tie against Tottenham and away trip to Old Trafford.
If Klopp’s side can pick up maximum points from there next few fixtures then it won’t be a surprise to see City potentially dropping points considering the difficult matches that are coming up for them.
