After over two decades, Kevin Campbell’s name can finally be parked to one side following Everton’s famous and long-awaited win at Liverpool on Saturday.

There’s no doubt that there would have been a party atmosphere for the blue half of Merseyside over the weekend, as Richarlison and Gylfi Sigurðsson emerged as the heroes from Anfield.

Well, it was something which was touched upon by boyhood Everton fan turned Liverpool legend, Jamie Carragher on commentary, during Sky Sports live coverage of the event.

In a tongue in cheek moment, Carragher claimed that Campbell, who was the last man before Saturday to score a winner for Everton at Anfield, ‘won’t be happy’ with that victory because it means ‘no more interviews for him’.

As the clock was ticking down to the full-time whistle, Sky’s leading commentator, Martin Tyler, claimed that Everton fans can ‘get back from behind their sofa now’ as history was about to be made.

And Carragher issued a brilliant response about the Everton fans and Campbell.

“Well, the Evertonians can get back from behind the sofa now,” said Tyler.

“They won’t be on it, they’ll be bouncing off the ceiling,” said Carragher. “Dancing on the ceiling, they will be. And rightly so.

“The only Evertonian that won’t be happy might be Kevin Campbell. No more interviews for him.”

Everton are sitting seventh in the Premier League table, one place below their neighbours, level on points, but with a game in hand.

Whilst the Toffees still have to navigate through a sticky road to secure a top-seven finish at the end of the season, destiny is still in their hands.

Not only will Everton fans be dreaming of Europe, but potentially finishing above Liverpool, which would be something.
