Ronald Koeman’s Everton side look set to be playing Europa League football next season.
Jamie Carragher has told Monday Night Football, which was broadcast on 17th April on Sky Sports, that Everton’s big problem next season could be the fact that they’ll have to play European football.
Everton have enjoyed a strong run of form over recent weeks, and they look to have a very good chance of claiming a space in next year’s Europa League.
The Toffees are likely to only need to finish in the top seven to claim a European spot this term.
But Carragher believes that the added commitment of having to play in European football could turn out to be detrimental to Ronald Koeman’s side’s form next term.
“The big problem he’ll have, is that they’ll have European football next season,” Liverpool legend Carragher said. “They could start their season in July. Could they lose two or three big names? That’ll be the problem.”
Everton have been one of the form teams in the Premier League over 2017 to date, and have their eyes on claiming a top six spot.
The Toffees are currently sat level on points with Arsenal, but the Gunners have a better goal difference.
Everton are next in action at the weekend, when they take on West Ham United at the London Stadium.
