Pundit admits Tottenham ace is on his way to becoming world class.
Jamie Carragher has told The Telegraph he dismissed Harry Kane’s credentials too early this season.
Carragher has penned a column for the paper praising Kane ahead of England’s World Cup last 16 clash with Colombia.
Tottenham hero Kane has won the Golden Boot in two of the last three seasons in the Premier League and is now leading the charge to win the World Cup’s top individual prize, with five goals already.
Liverpool legend Carragher said that last year he wrote Kane off as not world class, and he is prepard to amend his view if the England striker keeps on scoring.
He said: “If he succeeds, I will be amending the view I expressed in this column last October. I stated then Kane is not yet world class, suggesting the criteria for being so depended on shining in the latter stages of the Champions League or at a major international tournament.”
Carragher added that he feels Kane will be aiming for 10 goals in all at the World Cup, doubling his group stage tally.
If England keep on progressing then he is in with a great shout of doing so.
England face Colombia in the World Cup last 16 on Tuesday night, and they will face the winner of Switzerland and Sweden in the quarter-finals, and the victor of Russia and Croatia in the semi-finals.
Kane has a chance to achieve personal and national glory and by firing England to the World Cup trophy, nobody could ever question his credentials again.
