Reported Sheffield United target James Wilson has been named in Manchester United Under-23s’ starting 11 – alongside ex-Blades loanee Joe Riley – to face West Ham United on Monday (7pm).
Sheffield United hope to complete the 22-year-old’s loan signing before their Steel City derby visit of Sheffield Wednesday on Friday, according to the Sheffield Star.
However, the Daily Mail reported on Monday that Wilson was expected to take part in his parent club’s under-23 fixture before heading to Bramall Lane.
Wilson, who burst onto the scene during Ryan Giggs’ tenure as Manchester United’s interim manager in spring 2014, has since had spells on loan to Brighton & Hove Albion and Derby County, the last of which he saw cut short by injury.
HITC Sport understands that Sheffield United have also had an offer accepted for Wolverhampton Wanderers midfielder Lee Evans, whose Southend United counterpart Ryan Leonard was due to complete the second part of his medical with Chris Wilder’s side on Monday.
There is already one James Wilson on Sheffield United’s books, although the defender is currently on a season-long loan at Walsall.
