Southampton midfielder James Ward-Prowse has said there is more to come from the club’s record signing Sofiane Boufal after his stunning strike in the EFL Cup this week, the Daily Echo reports.
Boufal’s strike was just a taste of what the Morocco international can do on his first start for the club as he struck the winner against Sunderland to take them into the quarter-finals of the competition.
Ward-Prowse is quoted in the Daily Echo, saying: “We’ve seen bits of him in training. He’s obviously still getting his fitness and match sharpness after his long term injury.

“There’s definitely more to come from him. We have to make sure we help him along the way and help him settle in.
“But you can see the quality that he’s got. I’m sure he’ll only get better from here.”
It will obviously take a little time following a knee injury for Boufal to find that consistent form, but the early signs are very encouraging.

On the ball he has shown his quality with his touches and there seems to be a calmness about him. How he progresses in the coming weeks and months will be down to how he’s managed by Claude Puel.
One can imagine that he will be rotated like the rest of the squad so he is kept fresh and isn’t rushed into too much action too soon.
As Ward-Prowse says, there will be surely more to come from Boufal given he has only just returned to first team action. Once he gets a decent run of games under his belt, perhaps there will be more special moments like he produced against Sunderland, but on a regular basis.
