Rangers captain has outstanding individual statistic but was found wanting in a big game once again.

Glasgow Rangers captain James Tavernier is one of the most divisive players at the club. It really shouldn’t be that way.
When Steven Gerrard’s side win, it is often thanks to a substantial contribution from the attack minded right-back. Aided by penalty duties, he has already scored eight goals for Rangers this season.
Yet when Rangers struggle, Tavernier often does too. It is no coincidence.
Tavernier’s individual statistics are breathtaking for a defender, and may one day put him in the Rangers history books, with 34 goals to his name for the club.
But if Tavernier really wants to be remembered as a Ranges great, he needs to start delivering when it really counts.
Too often in matches against Celtic, Tavernier’s defending has been exposed.
Last season in the cup semi final against Motherwell he was found wanting, and it was the same this weekend against Aberdeen.

Tavernier knows himself he must do better. As a captain he needs to lead his team to success.
Until he does, all the individual records will count for nothing.
