Glasgow Rangers ended a mixed 2017 at Ibrox by securing a draw at the home of their bitter rivals.
James Tavernier, Wes Foderingham and Josh Windass all took to Twitter to react to Rangers’ Old Firm draw with Celtic on Saturday, and while all praised the Gers supporters who travelled to Parkhead, they all seemed to suggest that it was a missed opportunity for Graeme Murty’s men.
Having lost two of their previous three games, it appeared that Rangers were facing an uphill battle trying to gain a positive result from their clash with the Hoops – who had won six of the seven meetings between the two clubs since Brendan Rodgers arrived last year, with the two teams playing out a draw in the other fixture.
Celtic certainly created the better chances during the first-half, but Rangers came back at them after the break and created a number of opportunities of their own which were either wasted or saw Craig Gordon produce a couple of stunning saves to keep the visitors at bay.
The game would end goalless, but it was perhaps the Light Blues’ most encouraging performance against their bitter rivals since Mark Warburton led his Championship side to a penalty shootout win over the Bhoys in the semi-final of the Scottish Cup in 2016.
Unsurprisingly, a handful of the players took to social media after the game to express their thoughts on the performance and their disappointment that they did not manage to win the game.
Meanwhile, both Tavernier and Foderingham – who were both sensational in the contest – also reserved special praise for the Gers fans inside Parkhead.
