Glasgow Rangers defender James Tavernier wants to stay at Ibrox, with Sunderland and Reading reportedly interested in the Gers defender.

According to The Daily Mail, Sunderland and Reading in the Championship in England are interested in signing Tavernier from Rangers in the January transfer window.
The 26-year-old moved to the Ibrox club from Wigan Athletic in the summer of 2015 for a transfer fee reported by The Daily Mail to be worth £200,000 and when Mark Warburton was the Gers manager.

The former Newcastle United defender has developed himself as a key player for Rangers, and Tavernier has made it clear that he does not plan to leave Graeme Murty’s side anytime soon.
Tavernier has also suggested that it is up to Rangers whether they want to extend his contract or not.

“I don’t like to get into speculation,” Tavernier told The Glasgow Evening Times. “I’m fully committed to Rangers.
“I’m still learning here and I’m still growing here. I’m still under contract for another 18 months so I’m really happy here.”
“That (a new contract) is down to the club,” added Tavernier. “As I say, I’ve still got 18 months to go. It’s totally down to the club if they want to extend my contract. I’ll have to wait and see.”
Tavernier is a very good right-back who has been playing well for Rangers this season, and it would not make sense for Rangers to sell the 26-year-old in the January transfer window.
