Rangers defender James Tavernier and reported Ibrox managerial target Alan Pardew worked together at Newcastle United.

Rangers are on the lookout for a new manager following the recent departure of Pedro Caixinha.
Caixinha lost his managerial job at Ibrox due to the Gers’ disappointing run and results in the Scottish Premiership this season.
Former Newcastle and West Ham boss Pardew is without a managerial job at the moment following his exit from Crystal Palace in December 2016.

According to The Daily Mail, former Newcastle manager Pardew is a contender for the managerial job at Ibrox and there has been contact.
Rangers right-back Tavernier, 26, worked with the 56-year-old at Newcastle, and he has spoken highly of the former West Ham United and Crystal Palace boss.

“Pardew had some great years at Newcastle and he gave me a chance in European football and the Premier League,” Tavernier told The Daily Record.
“He knows his stuff, he has been in the top league and obviously he has not got a job at the minute.
“There are names in the hat but whether he has been offered it or would take it is obviously speculation.”
Rangers are fourth in the Scottish Premiership table at the moment with 24 points from 12 matches, six points behind Old Firm rivals and leaders Celtic.
