Rangers' James Tavernier celebrates

Glasgow Rangers defender James Tavernier has told the club’s official website that Pedro Caixinha did not address the team after they lost to Celtic yesterday.

Rangers were beaten 2-0 by their Glasgow rivals at Hampden Park yesterday, and their performance was disappointing.

However, Caixinha did not read the riot act to his players, with Tavernier saying he remained calm after the defeat.

“The manager tends not to speak to the lads after the games, and he has been like that since he came in,” Tavernier said.

“Win, lose or draw he never really says anything and usually reflects the next day when he has got his thoughts together.

“It’s one of those where the changing room is quiet anyway, we are all very disappointed and we need to work hard this week and put things right for Saturday.”

Celtic looked in total control yesterday, with Rangers never really threatening.

The Bhoys took the lead in the first-half through Callum McGregor, with Rangers sitting deep.

Caixinha’s side did improve after half-time, but Tavernier gave away a penalty which Scott Sinclair duly converted to effectively seal the match.

Rangers have now failed to beat Celtic in five attempts so far this season.

Rangers will have another chance to beat Celtic next weekend, when the two sides meet at Ibrox.
