Rangers defender James Tavernier has extended his stay at Ibrox.
Rangers have today confirmed that defender James Tavernier has extended his deal at Ibrox, penning a new three-and-a-half-year deal with the club.
The Gers snapped up Tavernier from Wigan Athletic back in the summer of 2015, with Mark Warburton swooping to land the former Newcastle United youngster in a bargain deal.
Tavernier has now racked up 23 goals in 126 games for Rangers, which is an impressive record for a right back having shown his quality going forward and from set pieces.
Tavernier has been regularly linked with a move back to England in recent months, but Rangers have now moved to end those rumours today.
Rangers have handed Tavernier a three-and-a-half-year deal, keeping him at the club until 2021, tying him to the club for the foreseeable future after almost three years of impressive displays.
Manager Graeme Murty will be particularly pleased with the new deal for Tavernier, and the player himself took to Twitter earlier today in order send a message to fans about his new contract.
Tavernier admitted that he was delighted to put pen-to-paper on a new deal at Ibrox, admitting that it was a proud moment whilst hinting that he has unfinished business at Rangers.
Teammate Sean Goss also took to Twitter to congratulate Tavernier on his deal, with Daniel Candeias also sending a message after the agreement was announced.
