The pair are currently fighting it out for the Rangers right back spot.
Rangers full-back James Tavernier has told the club’s official website that his rivalry with Lee Hodson for the right back spot is a good one for the team.
The right back was the undisputed first choice last season, making 50 appearances in all competitions as Mark Warburton’s side secured their return to the Scottish Premiership.
He remains first choice in the team but now faces stern competition from Lee Hodson, who arrived as one of a number of new faces in the summer transfer window.

He was primarily brought in to challenge Tavernier for his place and the 25-year-old says that rivalry is a good thing for the team.
“Lee is a great lad and he has done well when he has been in that position and it is totally down to the gaffer who he picks,” he told the club’s official website.
“I just have to put on the best performances when I play to keep hold of that spot and that is why Lee came in in the first place, to push me and Waldo. It has pushed Lee too and it is great competition for the team.”

It will be interesting to see if Tavernier remains as the Rangers first choice right back for the remainder of the season.
He has continued to impress in the role after a strong campaign last season and there certainly appears to be no desire for a change at present.
With a more than capable backup in Hodson, though, he will have to keep impressing if he is to stay in the team long-term.
