Mark Warburton’s Ibrox side Glasgow Rangers won on Saturday.
Rangers ended a four-match winless streak in the Scottish Premiership by beating Partick Thistle 2-0 at Ibrox on Saturday afternoon.
The Gers picked up their first league win in little over a month, with two defeats and two draws populating a September to forget for Mark Warburton and Rangers fans.
Niko Kranjcar opened the scoring on 33 minutes which relaxed a nervous Ibrox, given recent results, and Andy Halliday doubled the lead shortly before the break.
Both goals were enough for Rangers as a goalless second half followed, but the win did nothing for their Premiership title hopes except keep their relatively feint hopes alive.
Celtic had won earlier in the afternoon to move 10 points clear of Warburton’s side, who restored the seven-point deficit later on, though the Hoops still have a game in hand.
Nevertheless, Rangers right-back James Tavernier seemed in high spirits regarding the result as he took to Twitter to express his pleasure at the win – if not the performance on the whole.
Indeed, the win should, in theory, lift something of a weight from Rangers’ shoulders.
It was a very difficult last four weeks or so which saw Joey Barton suspended, a 5-1 defeat at Celtic, and manager Warburton regularly questioned since both incidents.
