Rangers briefly reduced the gap between themselves and Celtic on Friday night by winning 1-0 at Inverness.

Kenny Miller scored the only goal of the game as Rangers edged out Caley Thistle to move four points behind the table-topping Bhoys in the Scottish Premiership.

The victory also gave Mark Warburton’s side their second successive Premiership win after beating Partick 2-0 before the international break.

It was the 36-year-old’s 100th goal for the Gers in what has been a very distinguished career at Ibrox.

And Tavernier sent his message of congratulations to the centurion for his milestone achievement.

Things seem good for Rangers at the moment, in spite of the fact that Joey Barton’s situation is yet to be resolved, but on the pitch it’s all fine for now.

They have endured a horrendous last six weeks or so, drawing two and losing two prior before the win over Partick stopped the rot, but those two points from 12 have damaged their title hopes considerably so far.

It is a long season but the way Celtic – who restored their seven-point lead over Rangers on Saturday – are playing, the campaign may not throw up as many twists and turns as fans of the Ibrox club will be hoping.

It’s been plain sailing for Brendan Rodgers’s side so far and that may well be the case for most of the season, but time will tell.
