Rangers defender James Tavernier has told the club’s official website that they are relishing their upcoming schedule.

Mark Warburton’s side have a busy schedule over Christmas as they face nine games before the turn of the year.

Two of those see them come up against their main rivals this season as they take on both Aberdeen and Celtic at Ibrox.

Such a gruelling schedule would be daunting to some sides, especially those who have struggled for their best form like the Gers this season.

Tavernier insists that is not the case for them, though, as he and his teammates are relishing the upcoming games.

“It’s a hard month coming up but the boys are relishing it and we’re going to try and put as many points on the board as we can,” he told the club’s official website.

“We have shown glimpses of how well we can play football so if we carry on doing that then the points will come in and we will do better than we’ve started off.”

Rangers have struggled to find their best form this season after their promotion from the Scottish Championship last season.

They are currently third in the table and 11 points behind league leaders Celtic already, with Brendan Rodgers side also enjoying a game in hand.

Recent weeks have seen them show glimpses of their best, though, and Tavernier is confident that if they can play their best then the points will come their way.

“We want to be playing the best we can and if we can play the best football we can then we are going to win the majority of the games,” he added.

“I do see signs that we are getting to the best we can be and hopefully we can show that this weekend, I think the best is only to come.”
