HITC understands that a number of clubs are ready make a move for Rangers captain James Tavernier.

The Gers skipper is understood to have shunned interest from Saudi Arabia and Turkey earlier this summer as he was committed to helping the Light Blues’ title challenge.

Tavernier has featured in over 400 games for the Gers with 125 goals and nearly 50 assists, making him one of the most productive full-backs in European footballing history.

But following the recent Old Firm derby loss to Celtic, Tavernier was subjected to abuse and was confronted by fans at Ibrox.

Tavernier set for offers before transfer deadlines

HITC can now reveal that Tavernier’s possible availability has alerted clubs in Turkey and Qatar, who are now ready to make moves before their deadlines close.

Qatari clubs have until September 9th to get deals done, whilst Turkish clubs can sign players up until the 13th.

We understand that Istanbul Basaksehir are the latest club to show an interest, whilst Fenerbahce and Galatasaray have also had conversations about a deal. His former Rangers coach Giovanni van Bronckhorst, now at Besiktas, has also been keeping tabs on the situation.

Qatari clubs to rival Turkish interest

There is also interest in Qatar and we can reveal that Al-Arabi and Al-Gharafa are both showing an interest.

Despite the window being closed, it is understood that Rangers would consider a deal for Tavernier – despite rejecting bids earlier in the window.

If Tavernier did leave, he would be the last member of the side that reached the Europa League final in 2022 to leave Ibrox.
